Agave: In Her Hands

The Agave – Surprise Valley Residency, a project of Surprise Valley Culture and Arts, is supported with generous grants from Upstate California Creative Corps, California Arts Council, KAVAH Fund, and Chicago Community Foundation.

The Grammy-nominated music ensemble, Agave, is conducting a year-long virtual and in-person residency in the Surprise Valley during which they are engaging with local musicians with whom they are studying and performing music composed over the past 500 years. The residency will culminate in two free, public concerts in Surprise Valley in Spring 2024. In conjunction with the residency, Agave is producing a series of monthly radio programs, exclusively for KDUP, in which they will explore the life and work of a diverse range of female composers who are featured in their recently released CD, In Her Hands. These programs will be aired on the first Saturday of each month at 7 pm, and archived on this page.
